CONSIGNMENT INFORMATION

OVERVIEW - Horst Auction Center will hold consignment sales on each Wednesday starting at 2:00 P.M.  These consignment sales will consist of antiques, quality household goods, collectibles, toys, tools, etc.  Separate catalog sales of high quality antiques, guns, coins, antique tools, and other specialty items can also be arranged.  These sales will be for clients who wish to sell their items at our Auction Center.  A consignment sale will be ideal for liquidating estates, apartments, and small lots where on-site sales are not feasible.  These sales are not designed for garage sale closeouts or junk removal and these items will not be accepted!!

PROCEDURE – Please call Horst Auction Center Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. to set up an appointment for an auctioneer to come out and see you.  The auctioneer will make a general list of items that will be sold.  All items that are listed must be sent to the Auction Center to be sold.  At this time an appointment will be made to either deliver the items to Horst Auction Center or to be picked up by the auction service.

All estates and large consignments will be scheduled on a specific date and will be notified in advance.  Small consignment and dropoffs will be added onto scheduled sales as space and type of items allows.  An 8 to 12 week waiting period from the time of dropoff until the sale date is not uncommon.  This will be determined by the auction firm and these consigners will be notified by telephone (during business hours) just prior to the date of the consignment sale the items are scheduled to be sold on (normally, the day before the items are sold).

COSTS – A 20% commission will be charged on all consignments sold.  A sliding scale commission rate can be arranged on high value items.  An additional fee will be charged for packing and moving to the Auction Center.  No Buyer’s Premium is Charged at Horst Auction Center!

PAYMENT – Consignment sale checks will be issued within 10 working days of the date the items were sold.  A computer printout will accompany your check.  This printout will detail the items sold, the gross sale amount, commission charged, and any other expense incurred.

MOVING – Moving of items to the Auction Center can be arranged through Horst Auction Service.  The standard price charged for moving by the auction service is $70 per hour.  This price will include 3 men, the use of a truck, and all padding and carts needed in moving.

All small items that are to be sent must be packed in closed, uniform sized, stackable boxes.  (These boxes can be provided by the auction service.)  Packing of these items can be arranged through the auction service on an hourly basis but is encouraged to be done by the consignor.

DROP-OFFS – Items that are to be delivered to the auction by the consignor must be dropped off on a Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon or 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.  These drop-offs must be scheduled in advance by calling the Auction Center!  Drop-offs must meet all of the qualifications listed on this sheet and will be accepted solely on the discretion of the auction service.  Please include a general inventory of the items you are consigning.
